Roaring Camp celebrates 50th year as a heritage line
CALIFORNIAN heritage railway the Roaring Camp and Big Trees Narrow Gauge Railroad celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023.
The 3ft (914mm) gauge line was built in the early 1960s in Felton, south of San Francisco, opening in 1963 specifically to re-create early American logging railroads, and to provide a base for a growing collection of locos which includes examples of Shay, Heisler and Climax gear driven steam locos, all of which utilise two axle power bogies.
