These last few weeks I’ve really noticed that everything feels busier. Visiting various events at London Design Week, working on Reclaim in my favourite café or simply popping to the shops… everyone is around. And, it seems,
enthusiastically planning and preparing, be it for a project, a dinner, maybe a life change. There’s something in the air. Perhaps it’s a backlash against the gloom of the news, a renewed purpose and optimism to live life, take action and be committed to whatever we love and brings us joy right now.
So it is with this optimistic energy that I introduce the issue. Louise and Sam Coster’s Norfolk home (page 56) is an inviting space with charm and inspiration aplenty. I love that it’s so pulled together, but still full of eclectic
pieces and warm colour. Moving upstairs, we guide you through five styles of bed and which one best suits you and your space (page 98). Sleep is essential, which is why I’m so impressed by our charity
partner Furnishing Futures and founder Emily Wheeler, whose warehouse I went to visit (page 84). She creates healing homes for women fleeing domestic abuse, and one thing she’s often short of from donations is
beds and mattresses. I can’t imagine sleeping on the floor every night, much less asking my children to do so. Her work is vital, and her energy and tenacity an inspiration.
And finally, Paul Middlemiss is someone else whose energy and passion manifest creatively. We talk to him about launching vintage furniture brand Merchant & Found
(page 52), bringing storied pieces to our homes – and saving them from landfill.

More Flea market details and any arranged trips Beoordeeld op 21 maart 2025

Great magazine, expensive in print

Saw this at Barnes + Noble and was intrigued by the upcycle / reuse message of the magazine, without having that shabby chic or "clearly this used to be a cereal box" aesthetic you see in a lot of upcycle magazines. Decided to look up a subscription but the print one was very expensive to ship to the US. I prefer print magazines but I really wanted to try out Reclaim so went for digital. Looking forward to my year of trendy / elegant upcycle ideas! Beoordeeld op 30 december 2021
