A lot of the time we struggle to find the best shape for cabs. There are a lot of various templates to use but seldom are they unique or original. When I’m starting a project, I usually have an image, shape, size or pattern in my mind. I also have a specific material that I want to use. My favorite material is a carnelian with a light enough color so that I can make a carving from the back that will show an image through to the front. Lately, I have also been fixated on carving repetitive grooves and ridges on the front. Here’s how I make this type of shape.
