This month we’re off to the diminutive Luxembourg, a largely rural country squished between Belgium, France, and Germany. Whilst I’ve not visited before, Luxembourg exists in my mind as being not much larger than an Asmodee warehouse. How much of a tabletop scene could possibly be there?
Being only just shy of one thousand years old, Luxembourg’s ludic history doesn’t stretch as far back as its neighbours, nevertheless, there are a number of Luxembourgish card games. Mensch is a bidding and trick-taking game where players bid to win an exact number of tricks either with or without a partner. Whilst still played in Luxembourg, the game’s import to Canada has made it more widespread there.
