In celebration of a new chapter in the life of the Royal Watercolour Society, RWS NOW is the culmination of almost 10 years of planning, renovation, and Covid delays as the society’s brand new RWS Gallery finally opens at Whitcomb Street, just off Trafalgar Square. The opening exhibition will feature work by its artist members who will be showing their finest works in water-based media. Established in 1804, the Royal Watercolour Society is an artist-led society made up of an elected membership. Past members have included Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, E.R. Hughes, William Hunt and John Singer Sargent and its aim remains the same today as it did at the outset – to promote by example and education the understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of waterbased media.
