Based on Ken Kesey’s novel, 1975’sOne Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nestwon five Oscars for its unflinching look at life inside an Oregon mental-health institution. Among the winners was Louise Fletcher, who bagged Best Actress for her portrayal of the pitiless Nurse Ratched. Hard to believe it’s taken this long for any form of sequel or prequel, but Netflix and executive producer Ryan Murphy have entered the breach with an origin story, starring Cynthia Nixon, Sharon Stone, Judy Davis and - in the title role - Sarah Paulson.
