In the summer of 1980, the founder of TransEssex challenged Stacy to keep the Group going. She courageously accepted the challenge - and has remained at the helm till today. With thousands of members worldwide and a beautiful quarterly magazine, the Group she’s been nurturing for the last 40 years is better than ever. Kudos to Stacy! This is a testament to her passion, determination and hard work.
At age 30, Stacy took over TransEssex and became the world’s first cis-gender female co-ordinator of a transgender and cross-dresser group. She was, at the time, the owner of a hair and beauty salon in Essex. Juggling both would not be difficult, or so she thought.
While researching this article, I found that Stacy had done a lot more than just coordinating the Group. She has been the managing director, magazine editor, writer, author, contributor, membership secretary, envelope-stuffer, helpline operator, counsellor, advisor, spoke-person and so on. This list is by no means exhaustive. Read her article on page 58-59 (issue N°59) to gain a deeper appreciation and fuller picture. This super-ally has done some amazing work!
