First, let me tell you how much I enjoy Travel Africa. I found a copy of it in a hotel in Cape Town about six years ago and have enjoyed a subscription ever since. Living in Denver, Colorado, while far from Africa, I have made five trips there, most recently in January and February of this year when I volunteered on a research project in South Africa that aims to lower the rate of rhino poaching.
Graham Boynton’s article (‘The cost question’, Issue 72, page 35) is interesting. Let me respond as an American who has had the opportunity to travel in Africa. I know it can be inexpensive and very easy to arrange. However, most Americans believe it is very expensive and that it is very difficult to get around the continent.
