Taking place from 26th July-11th August 2024, the Paris Olympics are aiming to be the most sustainable games yet. Targets include halving the average carbon footprint of the 13 million meals served over the four weeks, cutting single-use plastic by half, 80 per cent of the products sourced locally or within France and to reduce food waste and recover 100 per cent of unconsumed resources. As part of this, they will be “reducing animal proteins and offering more fruit, vegetables, and plant-based proteins in meals,” and hoping to drive a vegan revolution in France as a whole.
