Of all the places we planned to visit since leaving the UK in 2014 to explore the world (and eat all the vegan food we could find), we’d heard that the Philippines was somewhat difficult for vegans. Fellow travellers sent back reports of hungry days spent with limited vegan options; they painted pictures of a cuisine that was based around meat, meat and more meat.
But after meeting some vegans from Manila who were extraordinarily friendly and deeply passionate about veganism, we couldn’t resist it and decided to go and see things for ourselves. Having travelled extensively as vegans, we’re firm believers that you can travel anywhere and survive without exploiting animals for food, clothing, entertainment or any other reason.
