In the final season of his 11-year NBA Hall of Fame career, Pete Maravich retired at the age of 32 after 26 games with the Boston Celtics during the 1979-80 season. He started four of those games.
This 1979-80 Maravich Celtics game-used road jersey sold for $27,584 (including buyer’s premium) in Grey Flannel Auction’s Winter Catalog Auction that closed in late January. As Grey Flannel points out, “All numbering and lettering are done in white tackle twill sewn directly onto the green knit jersey,” the company wrote in the lot description. “Jersey features the team appropriate squatty 4’s and wide zigzag stitch pattern which is indicative of a jersey ordered late in the season and lettered locally by the team.”
