The Of Gods and Globes anthology started by a group of writers for fun, writes PDR Lindsay-Salmon. It was so successful the team is now putting together volume three. The editorial team wants writers to send a story, ‘under 7,500 highly preferred, under 10,000 accepted, 15,000 absolute outer limit.’ Writers should choose ‘a name – or a personification – from any mythology that is represented in that culture’s constellations and is represented in that culture’s mythopoetic or fantastic mythos.’ Take the story from that base. For example, a story based on ‘Jupiter’ counts because he’s both a planet and a god. A story based on ‘Nimrod’ counts because he’s both a constellation and a mythic hunter. But a story based on planet PSR B1257+12 B does not count, nor does a story based on the character Amarok unless there is a planet connected to him.
Stories including ‘metaphysical or philosophical hinting and musing on the lines of Dostoevsky and Tolkien’ are particularly welcomed. You can submit online using their Google system.
