Take note
All writers need a notebook, but have you ever written about them, rather than in them? Here are some notebook-themed exercises from Jenny Alexander for you to try

There’s a celebration day in May for my favourite piece of stationery – National Notebook Day! I always have a brand-new hardback notebook in my drawer for when I finish my current one. My notebooks aren’t a diary record of my everyday life but a mash-up of quotes and poems, dreams, ideas, fragments of stories, printed out pictures and drawings. The magic of keeping a personal notebook is that no one else is going to read it, so you don’t have to worry about writing well or keeping things tidy. You can cross out and add bits in the margins, stick things in and play with new ideas.
