A TASTE OF HONEYSUCKLE
Native to most parts of the UK, wild honeysuckle (Lonicera periclymenum) is one of our most enchanting wildflowers. Also known as woodbine, it does what
it says on the tin, binding itself to the branches of countryside hedging and to trees on the edge of woodland. You can usually smell it before you see it: the
spidery pink-yellow and cream flowers exude a lovely sweet, spicy aroma.
Honeysuckle is one of our most iconic flowers in folklore. So if you’re thinking of growing a climbing honeysuckle this year, make sure you grow it in the right spot and select a non-invasive variety, advises Hazel Sillver.
