WITH the opening of Antiques for Everyone (AfE) on July 21, the focus of the summer antiques trade shifts from London to Birmingham nearly a month after the Brexit vote.
This Dutch Delft Gu vase, c.1700, will be on the stand of Philip Carrol Antiques (North Yorkshire). It features a Pieter Gerritsz mark to the base and measures 18½in (47cm) high. Priced £3950, it is decorated with scenes of coutesans making offerings to the emperor and the central band shows a continuous band of flowering plants and rockwork.
And despite the fears immediately following that shock, exhibitors preparing to attend the summer edition of the thrice-annual fair are optimistic.
