A Nobel prize-winner’s gold medal awarded to a British scientist is to go under the hammer in Hollywood as part of Julien’s Auctions sale on November 17.
The 23 ct gold metal weighing 202gms was given to Sir Cyril Norman Hinshelwood as a joint award in 1956 with Nikolay Semenov of the USSR, for their researches into the mechanism of chemical reactions, specifically that between hydrogen and oxygen.
