Topping two days of steady selling and 750 wide-ranging lots at Leominster saleroom Brightwells’ (17.5% buyer’s premium) summer auction was a Republic period cong-form vase in the style of the renowned Qianjiang School artist Wang Yeting, right.
The 9½in (24cm) tall vase, with enamelled figures in a landscape and poetic inscriptions in black with red seals, underlined how popular these later wares can be, usually with Chinese buyers.
Pitched at £300-600 at the July 25-26 sale, it sold at £13,000.
