Thomas Hart Benton (1889-1975) was an American artist whose oeuvre – paintings, murals and lithographs – was at the forefront of the Regionalist movement.
Starting as a commercial illustrator before enrolling in the Art Institute of Chicago in 1907, Benton’s large-scale works often depicted everyday people in rural and industrial settings.
