THE spirited discussion at Kilmory between a councillor and police officer over police service savings is entirely understandable.
We are living in cash-strapped times, particularly for our public services. Hard choices are being made across the board, and we, as service users, will increasingly notice the difference.
But for all the talk, over years now, of sharing of buildings, vehicles, equipment, staff, budgets and utility/supply contracts among public sector bodies, there seems to be nothing actually happening. The pace of this sort of fundamental change must be seen to happen at a faster speed.
