BOWLERS were forced to adorn their anoraks and waterproof trousers on Saturday morning as the poor weather threatened the west Argyll bowls finals.
The excellent drainage at Ardrishaig Bowling Club meant that play could resume without a problem and a day of competitive bowling could get under way with teams looking for a place in the Argyll and Bute final.
In the singles competition, Jamie McLean from Lochgilphead Bowling Club took the top spot with an excellent day of bowling, while club compatriots Hamish McNeil, Neil Ward, Colin McInnes and Ian Guy won the senior fours for the Lochgilp head club. There was some success for Ardrishaig bowlers as Alastair Craig and George Annan won the pairs competition, while Lyn and Kenneth MacVicar topped the mixed pairs.
