THE ANNUAL festival of Gaelic culture has been held over the past week and Mid Argyll was there in force.
Plenty of competitors made the journey north for the Royal National Mòd, an event which has a history dating back to 1892. This year it was Lochaber’s turn to host the event between October 13 and 21, and it proved once again to be a feast of musical achievement and fun. The big local winner
was 13-year-old Angus McLean from Kilmartin, who won the solo singing for boys aged 13-15 (learners) on Monday. Angus was the only Mid Argyll competitor from the junior ranks to gain a gold, silver or bronze badge this year.
