MEMBERS of Inveraray History Society were intrigued by ‘Stories from the Archives’ told by Alison Diamond, Inveraray castle archivist, at the March meeting.
Archives in the castle go back hundreds of years and reveal interesting insights to life in the castle and Inveraray. Though many of the records relate to marriage contracts and land transfers, others give more depth into certain characters and fascinating incidents over the centuries.
Members indicated interest in visiting the archives and seeing for themselves the extent of the records and research involved in developing historical records. Everyone is welcome to attend the April meeting when Crawford Grier will be speaking on ‘The Story of Kilmartin Glen’, on Tuesday April 3 at 7.30pm in the Nicoll Hall.
