THERE’S ALMOST A music theme to this issue. Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant came out in Attitude in 1994 in one of our first major exclusives, and we’ve had a great relationship with him and musical partner Chris Lowe ever since. To mark the duo’s 30th anniversary and the release of their ‘uppest’ album in a long time, Super, we welcome them back to the cover and I interview them on page 128.
Also in this issue, we have a great expansive feature to mark the 40th anniversary of the Punk movement in the UK. Iconic music journo Jon Savage writes about the relationship between punk and queer culture. Mark Moore, who had a massive hit with S’Express in the80s, gives us his personal take, and Paul Flynn explains that, though you might think punk is dead, its ethos is alive and well, as he interviews the gay half of one of the most relevant and important bands in the country today, Sleaford Mods.
