Biggest Shocks: Celebrating the amazing, the audacious and the downright weird. Here are the moments in motorsport history that won’t be forgotten. What makes a shock? Sometimes it’s a win against the run of play, or in the face of expectations – Pastor Maldonado’s Spanish Grand Prix victory in 2012, for example. Sometimes it’s against what is even happening in the race – the 2011 Indy 500 and 2017 Macau Grand Prix bore witness to that. It could be an unbelievable safety car intervention, or even a car with too many wheels. One thing’s for sure: we weren’t going to include any serious shunts in here. These, instead, are the moments we celebrate – or wince at.
