Welcome once again, theorists! This month we’re looking at some of the scales played most often over dominant chords. In many contexts, the scale we choose to employ over a chord is the choice of the player, but in some way it is also governed by the nuance of the particular composition and/ or by the genre. This can often be a case of convention, as opposed to hard and fast rules.
