Making something out of nothing
Meet the brands that take rubbish and transform it into a planet-friendly product
Waste is everywhere. It’s in our oceans, it’s filling landfills and it’s polluting our natural world. And frankly, it’s quite depressing. In a bid to look on the bright side and inspire others to get creative with their refuse, we’ve found six companies who turn waste into items of worth. Whether it’s clothing, furniture or even pushchairs, these products are far from rubbish.
EnviroBuild
There’s nothing like the simple joy of relaxing outside in your garden during the height of summer. EnviroBuild are a sustainable company who produce garden furniture made with recycled rattan so you can do just that. The idea for EnviroBuild arose when company co-founder James Brueton worked in property development and found it difficult to find products and services which were openly sustainable. Their aim is to make environmentally-friendly furniture a cost-effective alternative, and they also donate 10 per cent of their profits every year to the Rainforest Trust (rainforesttrust.org) in a bid to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
