BY ADRIAN DATER
When Nathan MacKinnon was just seven or eight years old, he was given a present by his father, Graham. It was a custom-made hockey card of the youngster in his gear with his name and position on the front, just like the ones he collected of his favorite players.
The back, though, was let blank. His father told him to write how he thought it would read if it were a real hockey card.
MacKinnon wrote how he wanted to play for his hometown junior team, the Halifax Mooseheads, and how he wanted to play for the Colorado Avalanche as a teammate of Joe Sakic some day.
