Alloy bikes have been around for decades, enjoying a heyday as rulers of the pro peloton during the nineteen eighties and nineties. By the late nineties, though, carbon had seized aluminium’s throne, becoming the primary material that road bikes were built from, with alloy bikes gradually featuring less and less.
