Following the government’s efforts to drive uptake of heat pumps through measures such as the Boiler Upgrade scheme, UK energy supplier Octopus (www.octopus. co.uk) has announced a new heat pump installation offer. With Octopus, a new heat pump is expected to cost as little as £2,500 after government grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme have been taken into account, making prices similar to that of a gas boiler install. British Gas (www. britishgas.co.uk) also announced its guarantee to provide the lowest quote, from £499 in Scotland and £2,999 in the rest of the UK. Costs will be higher if you’re required to make upgrades to existing insulation, radiators etc.
