The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) says the poor take up of the government’s Green Homes Grant scheme proves the need for a more long-term retrofit strategy in order to upgrade the UK housing stock. The scheme offers vouchers to homeowners who opt to add efficiency measures to their properties, but interest peaked in October and is tapering off. “The government needs to think bigger and bolder and back a longterm National Retrofit Strategy,” says Brian Berry, chief exec of the FMB.
