In weeks past we had been watching endless news reports about the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles and thinking about the importance of preparedness and having a plan for emergencies. Being aware of the potential for a disaster and taking pragmatic steps to mitigate the effects upon you and those close to you is very different from catastrophising and doom mongering. In short, be prepared not scared. Bushcraft is a superb way to develop our survival skills and confidence, as well as helping us to prioritise the things that really matter.

Following on from the success of the Preparedness Zone at last year’s Bushcraft Show, I’m very happy to be able to announce that it will be returning again for 2025. The Preparedness Zone will, once again be hosted by Tom Blakeley. Tom is a former British Paratrooper and pathfinder, who presents the popular Youtube Channel, The Prepared Pathfinder. Tom is currently putting together the lineup of demonstrations and speakers, who will be covering everything from self defence to food preservation. Another popular section of the show that will be returning this year is the Overlanding Zone. This is where all those gorgeous, pimped out Land Rovers, and other off -road vehicles will be displaying their camping set ups, and making me very envious.
What’s your favourite part of the Bushcraft Show, and what would you like to see more of? If you have any thoughts about what would make the Show perfect for you, please don’t keep it to yourself. Send an email to andrew@bushcraft magazine and I’ll make sure that it gets printed.
