A YOUNG traditional folk band from Argyll are set to get MOKFest’s audience animated when they play this year’s ceilidh set.
Heron Valley, an energetic band who have been playing at festivals all over Scotland, the UK and Europe for the past five years, will gig at the festival’s Friday ceilidh night on August 18. Their sixpiece line-up includes fiddle, accordion, pipes, whistles, guitar, piano, vocals, bass, banjo and drums, and they are guaranteed to get you on the dance floor.
They are joined by award-winning gypsy jazz swing specialists Rose Room, who make their debut at this year’s festival. The line-up includes violinist and songstress Seonaid Aitken, Jimmy Moon on double bass and the swing guitars of Tam Gallagher and Tom Watson performing tracks in the style of the great Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grappelli. The concert starts with the Dalriada Connections Band, who have opened the concert sets for past two years to great acclaim. Their line-up includes musicians who will perform across the festival, tutors from the afternoon workshops and many students from Campbeltown Grammar School.
