A SINGLE punch thrown in a Campbeltown chip shop resulted in eight months in prison. Sheriff Ruth Anderson QC did not accept William Dott’s special defence of self-defence when she found him guilty of a charge of assault following a trial on Wednesday.
Dott, 28, of 26B Burnside Street, Campbeltown, had pleaded not guilty to the offence, which occurred in the early hours of January 7 in The Crew chip shop on Longrow.
Earlier, three witnesses independently told the court that they had gone to the chip shop after being out in the town drinking.
