Health care cuts breathing space

INTENSE public pressure caused Argyll and Bute care chiefs to think again on plans for savage cuts at the end of March.

The budget deficit of £13 million has not gone away.

Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership Integrated Joint Board (IJB) has until its meeting on May 30 at Kilmory to plan another solution.

Councillors Donald Kelly and Douglas Philand of Argyll First said they would temporarily take down their online petition, after it attracted more than 1,350 signatures, and 2,000 more on paper around Campbeltown, Tarbert and Lochgilphead.
