Get ready to launch your summer with the April 2023 issue of Canadian Yachting magazine!

This spring issue takes a special look at personalities doing things in boating. At the enjoyable family end of the spectrum, meet the Sheldon East family who won the 2023 Yacht Solutions contest for a full-season time share of a new Schaefer 400 yacht in Toronto’s Outer Harbour Marine.

At the extreme end is a Special Feature by John Morris that details the exciting experiences of Canadian entrepreneur Scott Shawyer’s inaugural venture to compete in the grueling Vendee Globe race. Some might call him impulsive or even crazy, but the far more appropriate adjectives would label Scott as Driven, Competitive and Thorough. New to sailing in the Ocean, on his maiden outing of 3000 miles, Canada Ocean Racing’s IMOCA 60 broke the doublehanded class record by more than eight hours!

Our lead Feature is “27 Under 27”, an open-minded and eclectic review of 27 new boats all under 27 feet in length and with a focus on the most popular and the most innovative – sail, gas or electric!

Of course, we also bring you two new boat reviews. The Power Review is the beautiful new Regal LS 36 day-boat and our Sail Review is the Dufour 37, their new compact cruiser that’s all about space and power.

Then, proving that Wine and Water Do Mix, Marianne Scott shares her recent cruise through the Salish Sea’s Wine Islands aboard Cascadia, a 138-foot catamaran for just 10 passengers with a crew that included a gourmet chef. You don’t need to be an accomplished sailor to enjoy this cruising experience!

As always, the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons offers great boating articles in The Port Hole, their featured supplement.

All this and more in the April issue of Canada’s Boating Magazine. We hope this inspires you to have your best boating season ever. Enjoy!
