‘Next year will mark 125 years of the Orleans car, and it’s hoped the five survivors will all gather in Twickenham’

Having worked around the area of Twickenham and Teddington in various C&SC offices, I have long been interested in the local motoring history.

One of our bases was on Teddingtonʼs Somerset Road in a former workshop, which has since been replaced by housing. In the early 1920s, this very site was the home of Carden Engineering, where a team of 80 constructed the comical Monocar at its popular peak.
