SUNROOF SHINES A LIGHT ON MODULAR SYNTH PROJECT
Two of electronic pop’s pioneers have joined forces for new project Sunroof. Daniel Miller, founder of Mute Records, and renowned producer and engineer Gareth Jones (Erasure, Depeche Mode) release Electronic Music Improvisations Volume 1 on 21 May, recorded entirely by improvising on modular synths. “With modular systems, you can just go on forever and never actually complete anything,” says Miller. “Sometimes that’s okay – part of the joy of a modular is that you can just keep going indefinitely. But with this, we were keen to actually finish something.”
