After 11 years and several redesigns, the Amazon Echo has been replaced by a super-sized Echo Dot. Still roughly spherical with one chunk of the sphere lopped off to form the base, the Echo Dot Max is 109mm in diameter, and so only slightly larger than the existing 100mm Dot. But where the Dot incorporates a single 11.73in front-firing speaker, the Max features a 2.5in subwoofer and a 0.8in tweeter to deliver room-filling sound. An inset panel on the front gives you playback, volume and mute controls, and is surrounded by a glowing LED ring to provide status feedback.
