Historic England has revealed 200 new images taken by members of the public during the coronavirus lockdown in England, which have been added to an online archive called the “Picturing Lockdown Collection”.

The images cover subjects from the NHS, gardening, rainbows and remote quizzes, to empty high streets and haircuts. People were asked to share images that documented their experience of seven days in lockdown in early May, which resulted in nearly 3,000 submissions from across England. Due to the huge interest, Historic England has doubled the size of the final collection to include 100 public submissions, 50 newly commissioned works by ten contemporary artists, and the remainder from Historic England’s photographers.
