The shop-window-dummy Autons from the first episode of 21st-century Doctor Who were originally released in figure-form as a double-pack in 2007, and then later as a grey-suited single variant. Just like their TV counterparts, they feature hands that can be opened to reveal hidden weapons.
Other plastic artefacts, controlled by the alien Nestene Consciousness from its lair beneath the London Eye, were included in an episode-specific Ninth Doctor figure pack release, the contents boasting an Auton arm, Auton Mickey’s detached head, and the anti-plastic bomb the Doctor uses to blow up Henrik’s department store. Being made of plastic, the Autons are the only Doctor Who action figures to be constructed from 100 per cent accurate materials; collectors should be aware that, technically, these toys could be taken over and animated by the Consciousness, should it attempt a further invasion of Earth.
