From his ancestor Queen Victoria to the King today, artistic flair appears to run through the royal lineage. The King’s father the Duke of Edinburgh was an enthusiastic painter and designer – and now a new generation is showing signs of following in those brushstrokes. Adding artistic practice to her academic training, the Princess of Wales has a passion for the visual arts, which it seems she has passed down to elder son Prince George. The nine-yearold second in line to the throne showcased his talent with an adorable hand-painted Christmas card last year. Here, hello! reveals some more of the royal family’s hidden talents.
PRINCE LOUIS
The youngest son of the Prince and Princess of Wales certainly doesn’t mind rolling up his sleeves and getting his hands dirty, especially when there is paint involved. Prince Louis, now four, led the nation in paying tribute to NHS workers in 2020 during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, when he got stuck into some rainbow handpainting (below) at home in Norfolk.
Palms covered in bright colours and with a joyful smile on his face, the youngster, who was celebrating his second birthday, proudly showed off his handiwork (inset below). The picture, posted on the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s social media, wasn’t the only thing he worked on that day, however; his parents later shared a hilarious photo of the toddler, face covered in paint, alongside the caption: “Insta v Reality”.
