The King is known to wish trees “good luck” when planting them, and then shake one of their branches. His passion for planting comes from when he and his sister Princess Anne had their own plot at Buckingham Palace, and more recently was evident in his role as patron of the Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC), an initiative that encouraged people to plant a tree in honour of the Queen. It saw more than three million trees planted across the UK and the QGC has announced it will also plant a specimen tree in each of the traditional counties of the UK later this year to mark the King’s coronation.
