Her rebellious air and powerful delivery of global hits such as Heart of Glass, Rapture and The Tide Is High helped redefine popular music, with Debbie blazing a trail for the likes of Madonna and Lady Gaga.
As she enters her ninth decade, after turning 80 on 1 July, the American singer-songwriter remains a towering figure in music. And despite the march of time, she says she still feels 25 and has plenty of energy and creative ambition left.
