The Loch Ard Local History Group which serves the communities of Stronachlachar, Inversnaid, Kinlochard and Aberfoyle, was started in 1999 and is still going strong 20 years later.
The group has met regularly since its inception and its activities centre around an annual winter programme that runs from October through to April/May, and comprises a monthly talk on a topic of local interest. The group also runs a local interest programme each December where members are invited to talk about an issue of historical research relevant to the local area.
Members also enjoy summer excursions and in recent years, have enjoyed trips to several sites of historical interest in Loch Ard forest, including Bruach Caoruinn, a ruin which may date back to as the late 15th century.
