Although hinged doors are the norm, pocket doors can be a great option when space is at a premium, or between connecting rooms where they can slide out of view to create a larger, open-plan space. Pocket doors, which glide into a discrete cavity in the adjacent wall, guided by an upper track, are usually housed in steel-framed kits that take the place of regular studwork. As such, they’re a feature that it’s a good idea to plan for at an early stage.
