Action for Animal Health, led by the charity Brooke, is advocating for more investment in creating strong and resilient animal health systems that will protect people, animals and the planet. It’s estimated that 60% of known infectious diseases in humans, and up to 75% of new or emerging infectious diseases, first originated in animals. Unfortunately, underinvestment in the animal health sector has led to shortages of vets, medicines, vaccines and gaps in surveillance, which affects the likelihood of another pandemic.
