Approximately six years ago, I suffered a nasty fall from my mare cross-country, which resulted in an open fracture to my left tibia and fibula. Four months, five surgeries and one metal ex-fix later, my leg was fixed but my confidence was shaken to bits. I really tried to move on with my mare, but she was a handful and I was experiencing panic attacks that immobilised me. After much deliberation, we parted ways, which turned out to be the best thing for me and her. Recently, after having some lessons and a little bit of loaning, I plucked up the courage to buy Jazz, who has taken me from strength to strength and is making my dreams come true. In October, we completed our first hunter trial, something a few years ago I never thought possible. She is, and will forever be, my ginger heart horse.
