The Channel EQ plugin derives from the way Logic’s Mixer window layout is modelled on the broad format mixing consoles found in professional studios since the 70s and 80s, with row upon row of intimidating knobs. These desks would boast multiple channels – at least one for each track on the tape machine – so a large portion of these knobs were dedicated to each channel’s EQ section. In a similar way, each track in Logic features its own dedicated Channel EQ plugin, that can be used to cut or boost selected frequencies across the high, mid and low ranges for whatever’s on that track.
