Apple Watch 8 gets rugged
Rumours are rife that Apple will be releasing a top-tier spin-off model for the forthcoming Apple Watch 8.
Leaked by Mark Gurman, a favourite among tech fans for his reliable track record on Apple product leaks, this model will be built for outdoor and endurance activities and will be called Apple Watch 8 Rugged Edition – or possibly Watch Extreme, Max, Explorer or Pro.
Apparently, this Garmin-rivalling wearable will tout some intriguing features – primarily for hiking and swimming – as well as a shatter-resistant screen, a premium metal shell (most likely titanium), and a welcome battery boost. Interestingly, Gurman seems to think that the Apple Watch 8 Rugged Edition will only come in a cell-enabled version, eschewing the more affordable Bluetooth-only connection that standard Apple Watches come with.
