TWAS time for our customary Xmas Day walk, but due to the arrival of Laoch, we were restricted to more low level than usual, so no mountain summit for us this year. (that’s Dads excuse. I think he may have overcelebrated)….
Dad says it will be Xmas next year before we can take the pupster up ‘real mountains’ as his hips have to fuse properly, just the same as he had to wait with me until I was grown up enough. Whether Dad can still drag his auld creaky bones up mountains in another 12 months is another matter entirely.
None the less, we didn’t want to stay at sea level, so we decided to haul the auld fella on a walk up to The Old Man of Storr.
We’re doing two lots of photaes for the walk for this article, once with baby Laoch, and another with pics from the time with just me and Dad, from when we did the full Storr circuit in the company of two of the members of the Skye Mountain Rescue Team.
That was indeed a lovely epic walk with knee deep powder snow, even though Dad had to keep clearing the snowballs away that were clinging tae my legs. He said it made me look like a Poodle…
We do however recommend that the full circuit be avoided in poor visibility conditions unless you are comfortable with map and compass as it’s a fair drap (fatal), into The Sanctuary if you get it wrong.
